When my doctor suggested I try the FODMAP diet, I was very skeptical. I believed my decades-long IBS pain was too great for a mere diet to alleviate. I looked for a book that explained FODMAPs because I had never heard of them. I wanted a book that was published recently so it had the latest info, explained the science behind the diet (I doubted there was much), had step-by-step instructions (I don't enjoy diets or making up menus) and had easy recipes (I don't like to cook). How lucky I was to find Patsy Catsos' updated book. It felt like Patsy was in the room talking to me. Her book is frank, friendly, supportive and straightforward. She understands the pain and frustration of IBS, and of seeing doctors and taking pills for years but getting little relief. After I read the introduction, I skipped to the back and read the science section because I wasn't going on a diet unless it made scientific sense. Her explanations here and throughout the book are honest and easy to understand. Feeling somewhat less skeptical, I decided to try her 7-day diet, a detailed and varied list of exactly what to eat every meal of every day, including snacks. So much easier than figuring it all out for myself! After that, I was on my way. I used every tool in her book. She has done all the planning and thinking, so there are grocery lists, simple recipe and meal ideas with photos, forms you fill out to chart your progress (that was the most helpful part for me)...everything you need. I don't know how to tell you how shocked I was when this "elimination diet" worked for me. It took perseverance, but I did it, and the low-FODMAP way of eating literally changed my life. No more pain, no more side effects from pills, no more devastating IBS symptoms. I bought new clothes, clothes without expandable waists for all the IBS bloating. I eat most anything I want now, but with a few tweaks that have made me pain-free. Read and follow this book. You will not regret it. Patsy's words will get you through. I hope you have exactly the same success I did.
While I think this could benefit from some more recipes, there are really a lot of great recipes in here and I appreciate the side by side comparison with a "regular" recipe and how to make it low-fodmap. It both helps to reinforce easy substitutions for me, but also allows me to simultaneously make something a little more normal for my family so they get what they need. I really can't recommend this book enough if you're new to eating this way. I sincerely wish I had this book when I first needed to do the elimination. I'm so glad I have this now for when I have a flare up and need to knock it back down again. It can seem so incredibly overwhelming and I know I'm not the only person who walked into a grocery store and nearly cried because I couldn't eat anything. This guide will help you learn what and how you can eat and the pain can and will subside. Eating doesn't have to hurt and be scary.
As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) the latest edition of The IBS Elimination Diet and Cookbook by Patsy Catsos is a welcome edition to my teaching tools when working with clients with IBS and the low FODMAP diet. I am thrilled to recommend this book to all my clients with IBS who are struggling with symptoms and seeking relief. The book is laid out beautifully with easy to follow recipes and instructions on how to implement the Low FODMAP diet. A great book for beginners as well as seasoned dietitians. This book is my go-to resource for IBS. The authors reference list at the end of the book is extensive. The author has written a book which is clearly backed by science and evidence based nutrition practices.
Excellent! I tried apps, online blogs & research, other books, and all I got was conflicting information. Even on how long the elimination diet should be. It was frustrating & annoying; I had "gone without" the foods I loved for three weeks and still had symptoms. I called a registered dietician who specializes in the GI issues, & she told me to read this book, do the food plan for one week, then call her back. She said if I follow Ms Catsos's one week plan, I will most likely feel better. Ms Catsos explains why the conflicting information, gives seven days of menus, a shopping list for the week and recipes. The recipes are surprisingly good; fortunately there are many great recipes & her plan has flexibility. She teaches how to modify recipes, what foods should be in one's pantry, and how to reintroduce foods. She explains how to customize the plan. She says not to graze & explains why. None of the blogs or books I read said this. That suggestion alone made a huge difference!
I'm a kindle user but I bought the paperback version because I figured I would want to write and highlight the book. I've been having GI issues and my doctor recommended I try this elimination diet (Low FODMAP). I read most of this book on Sunday, grocery shopped, and prepped a few lunches that day. I'm on day 2 and I feel a little bit better. I'm excited to find out what exactly has been making me feel so horrible. This book is very informative. You will want to buy the paperback version so you can write on the pages. :)I'm not really into cooking so I don't know if I will ever try any of the recipes. They look okay though. The sample meals for a week were a helpful guide.

Amazing indepth and thorough analysis of AbleTrend trading system.
This is an excellent approach to the concept of trading in any market and a particularly elegant method of trading the financial markets. The author has done an incredible work in explaining the "basic" laws of the universe in how to apply them in trading. It is worth every penny of it.
This book clearly defines how to use abletrend for the long term. Overall it shows that abletrend is great software to help you pick those long term trends. This software will not help you get rich quick it will however help you make informed decisions over the long term with an existing strategy. For example I use able trend to achieve 100 pips per day while trading the forex markets. I do not always achieve my goal but 3 out of 5 days I can hit my goal with some real consistency. Overall this system has really helped me trade well for the long term.
It is an interesting book. The author did spend time and effort to develop the system. It is yet for the users to judge if the system works.

It is abut Trend Following, placing stops at a point somewhat above previoous high or low tradijng site, lots of examples, & unfortunately the author writes like one talks rather than like one should wreite i.e. recircles or repeats what has been said. the 268 pagers could be edited down to perhaps 50 pages. Normally retired older patients present their illness story three to five times, a retired Professor perhaps twice, a retired Navy Captain "ONCE" & I hacve been taught to say what you are going to say, say it, & summarize what you said, aas such I find "lwritting like you talk" a time waister.
I am a position trader & use the AbleTrend software on daily & weekly charts. The assistance in seeing clear support & resistance levels, & the guidance & discipline in setting precise stops is invaluable. Losses are small & easy to handle. I naturally get stopped out by the market at the right time & I am perfectly ok with that. Also the system keeps me in long enough to make profits much larger than the losses. I love the clarity & simplicity expressed in the book & in the AbleTrend software. It helps me trade relaxed, clear & without fear.
I expected this to be an infomercial for their indicator, and for the most part that is the case. There is some good info on trend and the logic behind quantifying a trend.There is some very useful I formation on how to trade their indicator that could be applied to a lot of other trend indicators as well.Based on what I read in this book, most people that I've seen trading this indicator, or its many imitators, are using it the wrong way.

I'm pretty sure this book is what you think it is. It's researched well enough, well written, and mostly interesting. There were a few points of interest that I don't remember being covered in the Isaacson bio, which was necessary for me to enjoy this one, as there is a lot of overlap in the way Jobs's story is told in the two biographies. However, this one is mostly a surface rendering, which may suit you, depending on your reading habits. If you want to get a sense of a broader, more compelling narrative, I recommend Isaacson's biography of Jobs. I recommend this one to anyone with an interest in Jobs/Apple and not enough time or courage to pick up Isaacson's tome.
The book is well organized and well written. It provides the reader with an overview of Jobs' life and Apple origin and spectacular growth to become the giant that is today. On the other hand, it's unbelievable that a person with so many character flaws could achieve all the extraordinary goals that Jobs achieve on his life. Perhaps,it was his tenacity, visionary ideals and persistence to pursue perfection, and the way he view life , all traits that help him become a legend.
This book was assigned to me to read for my junior year in high school. I was surprised at how easily the book captured my attention considering I only read books when it is for a grade. I enjoyed the organization as well as the visuals the author provided (I even found myself googling early Apple products and commercials). Overall this is a smooth read and I finished earlier than I thought I would.
Great paperback book my husband wanted.. I read product description and compared to other books on Steve Jobs and this was exactly what I thought it was going to be when I received it. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Just like sorting yourself into a Harry Potter house, this is a neat way for fans to dive into the stories. I really liked the concept behind this book, but I think it has one fatal flaw. I don't think their system for tallying up the quiz answers was really accurate. I got Dauntless, which didn't feel right to me at all, but that was how the math worked out on their system. They put a specific answer that is supposed to be the "Divergent" answer with each question, and that seemed odd to me.It was fun to play with this, and I hope my students (for whom I really bought this) enjoy it, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for an accurate answer.EDIT: After writing this, I had a student take it, and her answers all seemed to follow the same pattern, and thus her result made sense. I decided then to go back and more closely analyze my results. Basically, all the 2s represent Abnegation, 4s represent Amity, 6s Candor, 8s Dauntless, 10s Erudite, and 12s Divergent. I tallied the number of answers I got for each category. I had 12 Amity answers, 12 Erudite answers, and 10 Candor answers. Basically I'm Divergent. This method made MUCH more sense to me!
It is an interesting book but be warned it assumes gender with many of the questions.

For my Grandson.
Very good book and it helps me a lot with my Test
Before considering this book for your GED study's, please hear the words from a guy who has recently obtained his ged and used a variety of resources to study with for the ged test. I bought this book from barnes and noble, but found how mis-informing this study guide is with in days of the purchase. I want to at least leave reviews on the big online sites to warn people. This book has many many MANY typos and often on the practice tests. Nothing is more frustrating than doing the formula the exact right way and not having your answer show up on multiple choices for answers. It confuses you and makes you second guess yourself and just even further puts you behind on your studies. The math section in paticular will contradict itself repeatibility and every math practice test has at least 2 out of every ten questions with a some form of typo. I used other sources for social studies and language arts. The science section of this book also has typos (not as many as math) which makes it extremely frustrating since science involves memorizing a variety of words and what they mean, such as: mitosis, green pigment, celluar respiration, meiosis, troposphere, ect. This book also doesnt explain processes fully (such as math formulas and celluar processes). It seems to be more of a "brush up" on the four subjects and not an actual step by step study guide. It left leave out crucial information that i ultimately had to go to youtube to learn the correct methods/ answers.In my opinion, this is not a good book for studying the ged. I would say its good if you just want to brush up on your knowledge, but with how many typos there are... its just not worth getting mis-informed and flunking.

As ever, after a mission, Qui-Gon had been summoned to the Jedi Council’s chambers for his report. It was nighttime—later than the Council usually met, at least for ordinary business—and the darkness around them was illuminated by the cyclone of Coruscanti traffic and ships’ lights. Yet here, within this room, a sense of serenity prevailed. Qui-Gon relished the contrast. Master Billaba leaned forward, studying her datapad with a frown on her face. “It worries me, this misunderstanding between you and your Padawan. This isn’t the first time you’ve reported such difficulties.” Qui-Gon bowed his head slightly. “It worries me as well. Obi-Wan is strong in the Force, and eager to do his duty. The failure must be mine. Fundamentally, I fear, we are a mismatch. I’ve been unable to adapt my teaching methods to his needs, despite my best efforts.” Yoda cocked his head. “Adapt he must as well. Cooperation is learned not through individual effort. Only together can you progress.” Agreeing to that proposition—sensible though it was—would mean shifting some of the blame onto Obi-Wan, which Qui-Gon preferred not to do. He simply remained quiet. The Jedi Council had a habit of assuming that silence equaled agreement; Qui-Gon had found this habit useful, from time to time. Regardless, he expected the Council to eventually ask him if he wanted them to reassign Obi-Wan’s training to another Master. He’d known before this meeting began that they might even ask the question tonight, but he still wasn’t sure what he would say. The suspense seemed worse than he would’ve anticipated, maybe because he didn’t know what he wanted to answer . . . . . . or because the silence in the room had lasted a suspiciously long period of time. Qui-Gon focused his attention back on the Masters surrounding him. They were exchanging glances in what seemed to be anticipation. He straightened. “Have you another mission for us?” Maybe they intended to test him and Obi-Wan one more time before any decision about reassignment would be made. “Yes, another task for you we have.” Yoda’s ears lowered, a sign of deep intent. “Consider it carefully, you must.” Mace Windu drew himself upright and folded his hands together in a formal gesture of respect. “You may not have heard that Master Dapatian intends to retire from the Council, effective next month.” Qui-Gon glanced at Poli Dapatian, a Master of great renown . . . so much so that Qui-Gon had failed to note, in recent years, how aged he had become. “That is our loss.” “We hope it will also be our gain,” Mace replied. “Qui-Gon Jinn, we hereby offer you a seat on the Jedi Council.”Had he misheard? No, he hadn’t. Qui-Gon slowly gazed around the circle, taking in the expressions of each Council member in turn. Some of them looked amused, others pleased. A few of them, Yoda included, appeared more rueful than not. But they were serious. “I admit—you’ve surprised me,” Qui-Gon finally said. “I imagine so,” Mace said drily. “A few years ago, we would’ve been astonished to learn we would ever consider this. But in the time since, we’ve all changed. We’ve grown. Which means the possibilities have changed as well.”Qui-Gon took a moment to collect himself. Without any warning, one of the turning points of his life had arrived. Everything he said and did in the next days would be of great consequence. “You’ve argued with my methods often as not, or perhaps you’d say I’ve argued with yours.”“Truth, this is,” Yoda said. Depa Billaba gave Yoda a look Qui-Gon couldn’t interpret. “It’s also true that the Jedi Council needs more perspectives.” Is the Council actually making sense? Qui-Gon hoped none of them had picked up on that thought. Mace nodded. “Yes, Qui-Gon, we’ve disagreed often. Butted heads, even. But you’ve always acted with respect for the Council’s authority, without compromising your inner convictions. This shows a great gift for—”“Diplomacy?” Qui-Gon asked. Mace replied, “I was going to say balance.” It was a delicate line to walk, one Qui-Gon had stumbled over on many occasions. But those occasions had become rarer as the years went on. He’d learned how to handle the Council well enough. Now, it seemed, the Council had become ready to hear him in return. Qui-Gon had never imagined sitting on the Jedi Council itself, at least not since he was a youngling. Dooku had chuckled once, early in Qui-Gon’s training, when they spoke of the Council. “You have your own mind, my Padawan,” he’d said. “The Council doesn’t always respond well to that.” Given how many times Qui-Gon had clashed with the Council—from his earliest days as a Jedi Knight up to six weeks ago—he’d always assumed that he would never ascend to the heights of the Order. But now it could happen. Would happen. He’d be able to weigh in on the Council’s decisions, and perhaps create some of the change he wanted to see. It was the greatest opportunity of his life. “You honor me,” Qui-Gon said. “I ask for some time to meditate upon this before I accept.” Of course he would take the seat on the Council. But in doing so, he wanted to more fully reflect upon how this would change him, and the breadth of the important role he would assume. “Very wise,” said Depa. “Most of those asked to join the Council do the same, myself included. If someone didn’t—well, I’d think maybe he didn’t know what he was getting into.” Laughter went around the room. Amusement bubbled within Poli Dapatian’s respirator mask. Depa Billaba’s grin was infectious, and Qui-Gon realized he was smiling back at her. Although the Council had never been hostile to him, this was the first time Qui-Gon had felt a deeper camaraderie—the friendliness of equals. Already Teth and the Hutts seemed like a problem from years ago. The future shone so boldly that it threatened to eclipse the present. Steady, he told himself. Even an invitation to the Jedi Council mustn’t go to your head. “Consider carefully, you must,” said Yoda, the only member of the Council who remained gravely serious. “No hasty answer should you give.” “Of course,” Qui-Gon said. Hadn’t he just indicated that he intended to do exactly that? Before he could think more on it, Mace said, “In some ways, this invitation comes at an opportune time. This change could, potentially, resolve other problems.”Only then did it hit Qui-Gon: If he took a seat on the Council, then Obi-Wan would be transferred to another Master.

Beautiful poetry
Worlds of You contains poetry and prose from various times in Beau Tauplin's life. Though most of the writings are lovely, I wish they were organized in some linear format. I would have liked to have seen a progression through the years, or a set of themes with related writings. I wanted to know more about Beau through his words, but I didnt seem to make that connection. So, yes it's beautiful but it didnt feel personal.
