The inclusion of Herr Star's backstory makes his arc tragic and thus makes him a fairly compelling villain for the reason of the interestingness of his motives. Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy's story hits a lull as the consequences of Cassidy's betrayal and his feelings for Tulip as well as Jesse's seeming death slows that development. The apex conflict between Herr Star, the Saint of Killers, and the background development of ****face all particularly work and bring the series to a high point. The only included part of was 80s action movie parody backstory for the TC and Jody seems oddly placed in this collection and sort of distracting from the main narrative and from crucial characterization of side-characters. This, however, is a stronger volume of Preacher. Dillion's artwork continues to work well here, and the subtle shifts Dillion does for genre considerations on the special issues works well.
This is the first time I've been disappointed with the series. It's not that the story is bad, it isn't at all. But an entire third of book 4 has nothing to do with the story at all. Things just start getting good at like page 215, you think there's still quite a bit to go and suddenly it's a pointless back story of a minor character for 80 pages, then what seems like a fanfic about characters not even in the story anymore.
If you love the show, youll love this better....if you didnt love the show, but are a fan of graphic novels, i would still say that this is definitely worth reading. the art is amazing and the writing is great too.
The intersection between all the main/side characters and their motives/decisions is outstanding. I found myself rooting for the bad guy(s), seeing new sides of the "heroes," and enjoying every page.
DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN PREACHER! Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon at their very BEST; the whole series is amazing and by far the best comic I've read!I first read this when it came out, and even bought the original graphic novels as they did too. But this set is worth buying the series again essentially for the third time. The colors are beautiful, the weight of the books feel perfect, and I love the feel of the pages.
All of the books in this series are genius. I love the TV show, but I REALLY love the graphic novels.
I'm kidding. Preacher is one of my favorite comics of all time. This one pushes the envelope being good taste, so if you're reading this and PC is a big thing in your life, pass. If not, well Jesse, tulip, Cassidy, Starr and more are back. Among with sacrilege, cannibalism, nuclear weapons and... that would be telling. Just another great volume in the preacher series.
From the very first issue, Preacher captivated me in a way few graphic novels have. I read every single issue of this story within a matter of weeks, I could not get enough. The story follows Jesse, a preacher in Texas, who gets invoked with a spirit that may make him the most powerful being in existence. The characters are beautifully flawed, the themes of religion, right and wrong, are mixed with Movie Westerns and Secret Societies. Once you start Preacher, you are in it for the whole 75 issues. You will be glad you went on this journey! The hardcovers are beautiful and a must-have for you to enjoy reading over and over again.

As a former U.C. Berkeley student of Professor Herbert Evans, the co-discoverer of Vitamin E, I truly enjoyed reading both editions as it provides enlightening new detailed information about the recently discovered properties of the tocotrienols. Since Dr. Evan's discovery of alpha tocopherol over 90 yrs. ago (1922), most of the vitamin E research has been focused on this isomer, which we now know is only one of the more than eight that make up the vitamin E family. Tocotrienols were discovered much later (1965) and remained obscure until the 1980's when it was discovered that the tocotrienols lower blood cholesterol, but not the tocopherols. In 1995, research cardiologists in a four year study of patients with severe carotid stenosis reported that "94% of the patients receiving tocotrienols improved or stabilized, whereas none of the controls improved, and over half got worse". Current research now consistently reveals that alpha tocopherol actually interferes with the function of the tocotrienols and should be kept separate for maximum tocotrienol benefits. Today, research results are revealing incredible results for tocotrienols in cancer inhibition and cardiovascular disease, as well as amazing developments in other beneficial areas of anti-angiogenesis, anti-inflammation, obesity and diabetes, radiation protection, skin and bone health, anti-aging, and recently cognitive impairment. This book covers several topics. Some that I wish it would go into more detail on. It is a fairly simple read. For the most part it sort of just touches on each topic and you're going to need to do more research afterwards. But, at least you know what direction to start looking for more info and have a broad understanding of small business startup and running.
This book has several sections where it is worth taking notes and making a checklist. You may not need to take every step they suggest and you may find a few you need to add or update for your purposes but the principles are solid. It may be simplistic to one with an MBA, extensive experience being self-employed or running a business. The rest will be glad someone pointed out several of the details contained here.
If you want to read just one book about starting a handyman business, this would be the one. I read a diffent book first and had more questions than answers. This book finally answered all of my questions, including many I didn't even know I had.It's obvious that the author did extensive research. It is extremely detailed, in-depth, and chock full of resources; yet, the writing style flows and is easy to read. He gives a step-by-step process for getting the business started, then guides you on running and growing the business once it's going. He also includes the pitfalls to watch out for each step of the way. This will be a frequent 'go-to' reference book as my business gets up and running.If you're looking for a comprehensive approach to the "nuts and bolts" of starting a business, you need to get this book.
Out of the three books I've read on starting a Handyman Business this one is easily the best of the three. Terry covers the subject in detail and sets up a step by step road map for you to follow to get your business going.

I thought this book was well written with a lot of pertinent information. I am planning to start a business of this nature in the next month or two and I will read this again before doing so.There is some talk about saving and investing for retirement, which I personally thought was completely out of context for a book of this nature. Other than that it is worth the read.

Milton Friedman is a senior research fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and the Paul Snowden Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Chicago. This early work of Friedman (and famously his wife, Rose) is a seminal book and tutorial about the uniqueness of capitalism, and how that contrast with competing economic models. I think Friedman's writing lacks the punch and humor of his later, more mature work. But for anyone seeking a quick and tidy insight, and a general understanding of why freedom contributes to, rather than detracts from, liberty, this is the place to start. In an era when, wealth redistribution, tax the rich rhetoric, supply side hyperbole, and embraced deficits, are in vogue, Freidman tosses the baby out with the bath water, in arguing that the only responsibility of a person in a capitalist society is to earn as much as his thoughts and energies will allow. And in so doing improve the lot of all. He also argues rather brilliantly, that underclasses who come to embrace entitlements instead of opportunity are selling them selves and society short, as settling for a handout is nothing compared to the rewards and example, of rising on one's merit. Finally he demonstrates how collectivist society's come to be riddled with inefficiency, plagued by corruption and leveraged towards elite's at the expense of individuality, and the right to live as one see's fit.
A surprisingly in-depth look (for such a short book) at various market factors that capitalism affects and is affected by. I didn't expect to find any justifications for ANY government intervention in the market, but Friedman spells out many situations that he feels it would be justified, how it would affect the situation and what the alternatives would be. On the whole, this is an expertly written treatise on free market economics, or as free as rationally viable (given the political climate of the time).
This is an old text, written in the 60’s, and a lot has since changed and therefore some is out of date. Regardless, there are many good points. i.e. corporate tax reduction, part of the suggested licensing changes, some on market intervention. But holistically this book espouses laissez faire economics and close to a 100% and unregulated free market. It certainly makes you think, but accepting it holistically would be catastrophic and ridiculous. Reading it today provides a great economic history lesson, tremendous food for thought and many good ideas, some of which should be implemented.. This is highly recommended reading!
A rational and well thought out view on the value of free markets and voluntary exchange for modern economies. With today's shift toward bigger government and ever further redistribution, Friedman's ideas are more important than ever. Economic decisions made by a society of individuals is what allowed the US become an economic powerhouse, not a government induced separation of work and reward. Bernie Sanders would NOT approve this message.
A man who knew all the arguments for real capitalism. Kind, persuasive approach attracts interested listeners, deep understanding of benefits of real free markets. Highly recommended for millennials who lean toward socialist theory, wrongly assuming that socialism means "sharing".
Nearly two decades before Free to Choose hit the air (and bookstores), Milton Friedman laid out his "classical liberal" ideology in practical terms, addressing concrete policy issues. Obviously some of the topics addressed are no longer relevant today - the gold standard was dropped nine years after the book's publication - but Capitalism and Freedom remains a standard for libertarian political philosophy. Policy suggestions - even dated ones - serve to illuminate and clarify Friedman's ideology, one which equated economic and political freedom; without the former, the latter is an illusion.

You will gain more insight per minute of time expended than from almost any other text.The book is timeless because the principles Professor Friedman explains are bedrock foundations of the Capitalist economic system. More important, Friedman shows that only Capitalism is consistent with the concepts of Liberty that motivated the Founding Fathers of the United States, principles that led to the drafting of the Constitution. The book Captialism and Freedom has stood the test of time, and still represents the single best source to obtain an understanding of economic markets and how they work, without jargon or mathematics. Instead, Friedman goes directly to the essence of market economics, and liberty, in a simple and straightforward manner. This book will show you how you can use the economic system to make yourself an independent person, capable of taking advantage of the liberty that free markets promote.This book will help you understand why the institutions of Government, such as the public schools, the Post Office, and the Federal Reserve Board, inevitably become inefficient and problematic compared to private enterprise solutions. I've never used a pressure cooker before, but I am one who likes to cook and liked to cook healthy. Love this cookbook! The additional and delicious recipes have allowed me to expand the variety of food that I have made using my Power Pressure Cooker XL. I pulled out my pressure cooker, which I haven't used in ages, to help me put home-cooked meals on the table as fast as I usually ordered takeout. This cookbook has nutritious facts with every recipe and really helped me add variety to my healthy diet. I have the "nutritious oats with walnuts and pears" almost every day for my breakfast.
