I'm a fan of good play-along book for drums and these is one of those book that made me a fan. The transcriptions are very good,and it has also the voicings which are very helpfull, the play-along tracks are very good as well and the Amazing Slow Downer gives you everything you need to learn each one of the songs in these book. You could fist listen to a track with drums, slow down and hear every beat with good detail. Then the drumless track lets you play (also at your desired speed) the whole song, so the experience is like having a complete band playing with you whenever you want. It difficult to find musician interested in funk and willing to expend as much time as it's needed to learn the songs. These book lets you do all of it at home, so you're ready to play live when the time comes

My fiancé started drumming in January of this year and wanted to learn a funk song so he chose to purchase this book. The main problem with some of the other books we've looked at is that they don't have notations for the entire song. This book has each song in its entirety, rather than just the most well-known parts. The CD it comes with is really cool because if you aren't quite fast enough to play along, you can slow it down while the pitch stays the same (so it doesn't sound distorted). The tracks are also great for background music while working on fills or funky beats of your own.

not bad! not my favorite funks songs but it'll do for teaching.
I am not familiar with any of these songs. But that makes it perfect to practice improvising to unfamiliar music! You can play a straight beat or stretch out and groove all over the place. And because I don't know how the original drummer played it, I can really have fun with it and not feel constrained to play what someone else played.Of course, they do have the original drum part on one track and the drum part taken out on the next track. So if you want to learn how the original drummer played it, you can listen, read the music that comes with it, and then go nuts.I don't believe that the original musicians played on this CD, but the quality is very good and sounds authentic. The vocal track is missing and that is the only complaint that I would have, but even that is not too big of a deal.This is a lot of fun to play along with weather you are a fan of funk or not. I do not really enjoy listening to funk, but I LOVE to play it!! Who knows, maybe I'll start to develop a taste to hear more!!!This is WELL WORTH the money. You will not be sorry. It even includes the Amazing Slow Downer software that will slow or speed the song without changing the pitch. Good stuff!!
Yes, the play along tracks are without singing, yes the drum parts on the charts can be a little different from the original, but hey !? what's the use of these books, just try to understand the way to play such style I think, so the goal is reached, and quite well. There is a really big effort done on the mix and the sound, it doesn't sound cheap.Furthermore, not having the singing on the part is a good way to force you to stay concentrate and listen to the music another way. This book/CD is definitely a good deal.

Really cute book with great pictures. My 6 year old loves it and was so excited Little Golden books came out with Ghostbuster's books. These are appropriate for all ages and the ghost pictures are great. A must have for anyone who loves Ghostbusters or Golden Books. Note: There are some larger words so these are not ideal for beginner readers.
Reading your kids a bedtime story hasn't been this fun in a while. OG Ghostbusters story is great with awesome illustrations. 100% legit for the Ghostbusters fan. Follows the movie storyline and has a good amount to read per page. Reads through in about 7-10 minutes, depending on your style. My kids love this one
Little Golden Books have been a favorite for as long as I can remember! This one is a particular favorite because of the much loved Ghostbusters theme! I couldn't be more pleased to see a book so treasured by a little one! He's not afraid of no ghosts! Why? Because he takes his Ghostbusters book to bed with him every single night! My grandson loves the Ghostbusters. I at first just downloaded the sample of this book, but it stopped short of showing the Marshmallow Man, which is favorite part. He screams with joy when he turns the page and his favorite villain appears. Worth every penny!

I had little golden books growing up and loved them! They were so easy to find in my bookcase because of the gold bindings. I bought these for my 6 year old nephew and he loved them. The words are big enough for him to read and the quality is great!
I'm a child of the 80s, so of course I purchased this book for my pre-schooler. A bit nervous at first about age appropriateness (why was I allowed to watch this film so young?!?) but it's absolutely perfect. My son even took the book to pre-school to share with his class (apparently four dudes who hunt ghosts is a mind blowing concept to a four year old). The teacher even enjoyed it. "I love this town!"

I just got through day 4 and... this devotional is exactly what I needed. Throughout the devotional, I can see how the author's words tie back to different scriptures in the bible. My only suggestion would be to supply more scripture for meditation purpose but.. this is an older work. Either way, it is amazing. There is plenty of space in the book to write in scriptural references. Very scripturally and theologically sound devo that helps open my eyes and brings me to a closer intimacy with God.God brought this devotional to me exactly when I needed it. I'm only on day 4 and I am being changed.The devotional has applicable ways to wait on God, a little different from Abide in Christ by Andrew Murray which didn’t give a lot of practical advice. Great format. Soft cover. Love it.
The message is so simple. "I am waiting on God." His book Absolute surrender for me is too complicated. On our coins we have In God We Trust. How do you apply that? If we don't know how to deal with this or that I am waiting on God is the exercise of patience that often gives the answer. It takes away anxiety and worry. This is a wonderful book for an Alto Sax player. Has a GREAT variety of songs some are challenging and others are a bit easier. My son LOVES this and it has popular well known songs which encourages my son to play and practice more. He loves the song "Happy" and is really trying to get the song done but he is a relatively new player so it will take him some time. I am so proud him and I am so glad that books such as this are available. The price was right and there really are exactly 101 Movie Hits (all familiar ones at that)!
My teen is enjoying this book! In band she's often playing supporting notes and not the main melody, so she is loving this!
Daughter is in 7th grade & it was a struggle to get her to enjoy much less even practice her saxophone. Now she loves playing! And we love listening!

Richard Susskind is Honorary Professor of Law at Gresham College, London, IT adviser to the Lord Chief Justice, and an independent consultant to professional firms and national governments. He is Chair of the Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information, a law columnist at The Times, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and of the British Computer Society. He studied law at Glasgow University and has a doctorate in law and computers from Balliol College, Oxford. His views on the future of the legal profession have influenced a generation of lawyers around the world. The experience base underlying my comments are as a recovering attorney who has served as a practice development consultant to law firms around the United States. These comments are primarily directed to those who are invested in, depending on your point of view, the legal industry or profession.First the good news. Before reading Susskind's work, you'll need three packs of sticky notes in different colors. Use one color to mark the things that you already agree with, another for the things you disagree with and the third - the big pack - for the new ideas you hadn't considered before. Since tradition is only helpful to the extent the future will be like the past, it is not so much in his specific predictions that Susskind's work benefits the legal community as much as the fact that he makes the velocity of change undeniable.The metaphorical image of lawyers Susskind paints is a bunch of guys in `bespoke' suites, standing on a beach toward which a huge wave is approaching, arguing with each other who will bear legal liability for the tsunami. Those who value the profession and their role in it will heed the warning and move to the high ground. These will be those who recognize that the legal profession is the servant of society - not the repository of its order or wisdom.In `minding the gap' between consultant speak and difference between theory and practice, the footnotes alone - most of which are web sites exemplifying what he's discussing, are worth the price of the book. The author would have earned more money from this work if he had simply asked the readers to send him a dollar every time they looked followed up on a footnote and said to themselves `now I see what he's talking about'.The bad news is that the author's experience clearly focuses this book on the net sum of his professional experience, which, apparently, is serving the largest `white shoe' firms in Great Britain. Since, using economic terminology, the law is a `lagging phenomena' - this exacerbates the differences in `legal culture' between us. The significance of this is inversely proportional to the `listening skills' of the reader. To the extent that most lawyers spend the time they're not talking thinking up what they're going to say next - this is a problem.Overall, the book gets a thumbs up. The author does American lawyers the favor of not only saying that changes are coming but outlines some specifics as to what those changes might be. Getting to higher ground in time is up to each individual and firm.
Please note the question mark in the title.Susskind, a British information-technology consultant and futurist, is not necessarily predicting the end of the legal profession in this thought-provoking but overly long and convoluted book. He is predicting that within a couple of decades, lawyering will have changed in ways that the typical law firm partner of 2009 can hardly envision.The engine of change, as far as Susskind is concerned, is the Internet and information technology in general. Susskind points to 10 "disruptive technologies" - among them ideas as prosaic as automated document assembly and as visionary as the provision of legal advice through open-source technology - that will alter the face of the profession."Information technology is now part of the universe of lawyers," Susskind writes. "It is not a parallel universe. Disruptive legal technologies are too important to be left to technologists ... they are applications of technology that challenge the old ways and, in so doing, bring great cost savings and new imaginative ways of managing risk."Susskind believes, for example, that except for the most customized, top-of-the-line engagements, legal work done by top firms in the United States and the United Kingdom will soon be largely standardized through the use of intelligent document assembly programs, the deployment of more paralegals and nonlawyers, and other innovations. Even high-end corporate work, he says, can benefit from standardization. For example, Her Majesty's Stationery Office, a government agency that Susskind regards as a key player in the legal Internet, sounds merely quaint to American ears.Regardless, anyone who wishes to understand where the profession has been and where it is going should read this book.
I'm a lawyer and bought this book when one of my clients told me she was reading it as part of her book club--which is comprised of high-level executives. Indeed, the very title had me worried! That aside, I found this book extremely insightful and quite helpful to me as a legal practitioner. It explores ways in which we can use technology to enhance efficiency in obtaining or rendering legal advice. While many lawyers might cringe at the possibility of being replaced by an algorithm, those of us who truly value their clients' interests and are sensitive to cost effectiveness can adapt many of the concepts presented in this book in improving their own customer service. This is a "must read" for lawyers and clients alike.

Matlab is the accepted standard for scientific computing, used globally in virtually all Neuroscience and Cognitive Psychology laboratories. For instance, SPM, the most used software for the analysis and manipulation of fMRI images in research and clinical practice is fully programmed in matlab, and its use of the possibility to allow for sophisticated software modules to be freely added to the software has established it as the by far dominant software in the field. Many universities now offer, or are beginning to offer matlab introductory courses in their neuroscience and psychology programs. Nevertheless, so far there hasn't been a textbook specific to this market, and the use of the plethora of existing engineering focused Matlab textbooks is notoriously difficult for teaching the package in those environments. This is the first comprehensive teaching resource and textbook for the teaching of Matlab in the Neurosciences and in Psychology. Matlab is unique in that it can be used to learn the entire empirical and experimental process, including stimulus generation, experimental control, data collection, data analysis and modeling. Thus a wide variety of computational problems can be addressed in a single programming environment. The idea is to empower advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students by allowing them to design and implement their own analytical tools. As students advance in their research careers, they will have achieved the fluency required to understand and adapt more specialized tools as opposed to treating them as "black boxes". Virtually all computational approaches in the book are covered by using genuine experimental data that are either collected as part of the lab project or were collected in the labs of the authors, providing the casual student with the look and feel of real data. In some rare cases, published data from classical papers are used to illustrate important concepts, giving students a computational understanding of critically important research. The ability to effectively use computers in research is necessary in an academic environment that is increasingly focused on quantitative issues. Matlab represents an ideal language of scientific computing. It is based on powerful linear algebra structures which lend themselves to empirical problems on the one hand, while at the same time allowing the student to make rapid problem-oriented progress (particularly in terms of visualization of data points) without having to lose focus by worrying too much about memory allocation and other "plumbing" minutiae as would be required in other, more low-level programming languages such as C or C++. Currently, there are several books that provide introductions to Matlab that are either too generic and fundamental or too irrelevant for neuroscientists and cognitive psychologists who typically face a very circumscribed range of problems in data collection, data analysis and signal processing. Some non-book tutorials and primers that are in use in the community are typically out of date. Matlab versions are usually not backwards compatible. Many commands and functions used in older tutorials and primers, such as "flops" won't work in current versions of Matlab, necessitating a book that is timely and up-to-date. The complete lack of a relevant resource in this area, combined with a clearly felt need for such a text provided the primary and initial impetus for this project. The authors provide such a dearly needed resource adapting and pooling materials that developed for and used in highly rated courses involving the use of Matlab in Neuroscience at the University of Chicago. Two co-authors (PW and NH) have presented their respective work on teaching Matlab at national meetings and two of the co-authors (PW and MB) were awarded the coveted University of Chicago's Booth Prize for excellence in teaching these courses. What more could you ask for? As a budding neuroscientist currently applying to grad school, I've had to use MATLAB for a vast array of purposes in several labs. Not only is this book the best possible way to immerse yourself in the truly PRACTICAL applications of MATLAB for neuroscience, but it is diverse in its applications. I've been able to utilize what I learned from this book on literally both coasts of the country.This should, really, be a mandatory tutorial for every graduate student interested in collecting data from subjects and analyzing said data.I see some reviewers saying its not for beginners. The key is to remember that this is NOT a walk in the park type of field. Therefore, this book properly and over-adequately prepares you for real-world challenges that you will face int he field.The step by step instructions and workflows are amazing for self-verification and I really don't think I would have been able to excel as quickly as I did in MATLAB and my neuroscience career as I could without this book.

I had no previous background in programming or computer science, but based on the reviews I bought this book as an introduction to learning Matlab because it was more specific to the field I'm in. I am REALLY surprised at the reviews that say this book is for beginners. I agree with the previous review that says the book starts off easy to understand, and then it feels like it leaves you on your own to figure out a lot of things.For example, I was trying to complete the first project on my own and using only the commands covered in the previous chapters. I had to ask for help from friends and despite me telling them "I don't think I'm supposed to use that command because they haven't explained it yet" they still gave me other ways to write certain functions that weren't covered. Since I couldn't figure out how to integrate some of the previous material, I wrote the project program with commands that weren't covered by the book up to that point. It was pretty unsatisfying and discouraging. Not the book's fault that my friends didn't use what was taught, but it does lack some guidance for the projects.My biggest complaint is that I can't find sample programs for the projects! I've checked the companion website and tried to buy the answer manual online, but you have to prove that you're a professor in order to buy it. Available answers would really help someone like me (who has ZERO intuition for programming) get started on projects and find more efficient ways of writing programs. It's not the advanced math or methods described that make this text hard to get through, which some reviewers are attributing to the bad reviews.There are lots of comments that accompany the examples, a color insert, and a really helpful appendix that quickly reviews some matrix algebra. This seems like a good book for someone in neuroscience or psychology who already has some background in Matlab. But if you're just starting out, especially without any background in programming, this book will likely discourage you. Also, I could see how this book would be good for a beginning course because you've got a professor to guide you through the text. However, I'd recommend David Rosenbaum's "Matlab for Behavioral Scientists" for a beginning text if you're teaching yourself. After reading that book, I've looked back at this book and can understand everything much better.

This book will help you understand Matlab better especially if you are going into neuroscience. However, it is lacking in examples and sometimes the explanations are not very clear. I would only recommend this book if you already have some Matlab experience and not for the amateur programmer. Other than that, the book is quite detailed and full of colour.
